Gao Gao Stegosaurus

 Gao Gao This is the first quilt I’ve ever made, and the first thing I’ve sewn more complex than say, a pillow. So I was completely surprised that it turned out as good as it did. The design is from the anime AIR, (’GAO’ is the sound a stegosaurus makes), but the idea to make a quilt was from the graphic novel Blankets, which Sean let me borrow before we were going out. I had a lot of fun picking out all the little scraps of fabric, and I don’t know if you can tell from the picture, but all the colors in the border of the quilt are actually little dinosaurs. Sean and I had a running joke about getting people soggy dildos as gifts, but instead of giving them the dildo, you just hide it in their room, so they (or someone else) can find it later. That’s what I told Sean I was going to do for him for Christmas, but every time we talked about it, it got more detailed. Eventually I was telling him that I was giving him a 10 ft dildo made of paper machê, with a fountain type device to keep it soggy all the time. I don’t know if he believed me at all, but by the time we were opening presents with his family, he refused to open mine in front of everyone. Just to be safe. |
 Stegosaurus So Mimi made this for me for Christmas. It was a pretty amazing gift. Before we were dating I made Mimi watch this ridiculous anime called AIR. It is probably meant for 12 year old japanese girls but I really liked it. So much of our time was spent slowly and meticulously moving closer together while we sat on my bed watching it. Anyway the best part of the anime was a character who wore a shirt with the same picture. It may seem like a ridiculous present since we had only been dating for a month or two but I got her a Nintendo DS, so I guess we both came on pretty strong with the gift giving. |

I want one. And my boyfriend got me a DS for our first christmas, so I guess it’s just the cool thing to do. Did I mention that I want one of these blankets? ‘Cause I really do.
